Solar Rebates Available in Concord, MA

Concord Municipal Light Plant (CMLP) offers a solar rebate to its customers in Concord, MA.  Coupled with the other generous incentives offered by the state of Massachusetts and the federal government, the CMLP rebate makes solar power a very attractive investment in this municipality.

The Concord Municipal Light Plant rebate is only available on photovoltaic solar installations and does not include solar thermal projects.  There are a few other municipal light plants, like Chicopee and Marblehead, that offer a solar rebate, but their programs are restricted to only residential projects.  Concord’s solar rebate program is available for solar installations at commercial, industrial, residential, non-profits, schools, agricultural, and institutional facilities.  The caveat being that all systems must be owned by the customer (not leased or rented) and located at the customer’s premise.

The CMLP solar rebate is calculated based on the first 5 kilowatt AC installed.  The rebate is calculated to be $1000 per kilowatt (AC).   Therefore, the maximum rebate available is $5,000 for a 5 kW AC system.   Concord Municipal Light Plant will have ownership of all Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs) generated by PV system.    According to the Terms and Conditions of the program, inverters must have a 7-year minimum warranty.  Solar panels must have a 20-year power warranty and meet an overall output performance rating of 85% of higher.

The solar rebate from CMLP is only one out of many incentives that are offered for Massachusetts solar installations.  Rebates are not available for “do-it-yourself” projects and installations must be completed by professional, licensed solar contractors.  Please talk to a Massachusetts solar installer, such as Brightstar Solar, to schedule a free evaluation to determine if you have good site for solar power .
